Sample Notification Letter

Good evening, VBCPS staff and families-

The health and safety of our entire community is of utmost importance for everyone at Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS). With that in mind, we want to make you aware that the school division has been informed of individuals who were in our buildings and since tested positive for COVID-19. These people will not return to any VBCPS building until released by their healthcare providers and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance has been met. The incubation period for COVID-19 is up to 14 days.

You are receiving this email because you or someone in your family is associated with an affected building. Please check our COVID-19 dashboard for more information on locations and relevant dates of possible exposure.

We have worked with Virginia Beach Department of Public Health (VBDPH) in identifying and communicating directly with “close contacts,” or individuals who may have had an increased exposure risk and require additional notification and guidance. Close contacts will hear directly from the VBDPH or VBCPS health services. If you are not contacted by the health department or VBCPS health services, you are not considered to be a close contact and there is a low-to-no risk of transmission.

For additional information about COVID-19, please go to the VDH website or the CDC website. You may also call the Eastern Region COVID-19 Hotline with general questions at 757-683-2745.

We encourage you to use the following guidelines as a part of our efforts to #VBSAFETogether.
