At its Jan. 14 meeting, the School Board of the City of Virginia Beach elected Kathleen Brown as chair and Carolyn Weems as vice chair. Brown has served on the School Board for two years and Weems for 22 years.

Based on data from 2023-2024, all but one school in Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) earned state accreditation for 2024-2025, following today’s release of school quality profiles data from the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE).

Green Run Collegiate (GRC) has been named a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education, receiving the distinction of Exemplary High Performing School.
All birthday celebrations shall be served during lunchtime. Parents/legal guardians may elect to order Elementary Birthday Celebrations through the school cafeteria.
Elementary Birthday Celebration order requests must be submitted to the cafeteria manager at the student’s respective school. The cafeteria manager will review and follow student food allergy directives for birthday celebrations.
Outside food and beverages to be shared with students must be pre-approved by your school at least two days prior to the celebration event. Please use the following form to bring a snack to your students’ birthday.
