• First-time user instructions:
  • Parents should contact their child’s school to obtain a unique activation key.
  • Tap the “test” button.
  • When using the application for the first time, users are required to type the district URL. Type “https://ParentVUE.vbcps.com”.
  • Once the connection is successful, Virginia Beach City Public Schools will display at the top of the application. A message appears, “To login you will need to create an account and activate it.” It also asks, “Do you have an activation key and would you like to activate your account?”
  • Tap Yes if you have an activation key and would like to activate your account.
    • Type First Name.
    • Type Last Name.
    • Type Activation Key.
    • Tap Continue to Step 3.
    • Type User Name.
    • Type Password.
    • Type Confirm Password.
    • Type Primary Email.
    • Tap Complete Account Activation.
  • Tap Already Activated if the account has already been activated and you have a username and password.
  • Proceed to step 6.
  • Tap No if you have never activated your account and don’t have an activation key. NOTE: Each parent/guardian will need to activate their ParentVUE account with an activation key (one account per parent for all linked students). Each parent will need to contact their child’s school to obtain a unique activation key.
  • In the pop-up window, type your ParentVUE user name and password to log into the application.
  • Tap Login button.

• Access the ParentVUE Parent Portal.
• Class Schedule
  • Once you have logged in ParentVUE, you will be able to access your student’s attendance, class schedule, course history, course requests, any fees that are owed, current grades, and more.

  • Course History and Cumulative GPA

    When you click on the course history tab, turn on the detail at the top right corner. This shows your student’s current cumulative GPA as well as the courses completed, courses in progress, and courses needed for graduation. As you scroll down the page, you can also see test requirements and the grades earned in each course your student has taken. Make sure that you have the detail turned on for each section.

• Visit the ParentSquare website to sign in or download the app. Use the email or phone number you have on file at your school to log in and activate your account.

• Changing your notification settings (turn off an on text, email and voice messages):

Here are the steps to change the language setting in Canvas:

• Access your Canvas account through your ParentVUE account.
• Look for the profile icon or picture and click.
• Click settings.
• Click Edit settings (far right, center page with pencil).
• Find languages and choose.
• Click update settings.
• Language will be changed on any device you long into Canvas.

• Logging into the app for the first time:
  • Parents can log in using the cell phone contact details the district has on file. If you don’t remember the email/mobile phone on file or are not able to log in, contact your school district to add/update your email and/or cell phone information.

  • Click “Submit Payment.”

• Step 1: Access Eligibility Benefits
  1. Log in to SchoolCafé.
  2. Select "Benefits" from the menu.
  3. Choose your preferred language.
  4. Select "Apply for School Meals" to begin a Free & Reduced Meal Application.
  5. Click "Next."
• Step 2: Confirm Applicant Information
  1. Review your personal information.
  2. Make any necessary updates or corrections.
  3. Select "Save Applicant Information."
• Step 3: Certify Information
  1. Review the certification statement.
  2. Confirm that all information provided is accurate.
  3. Select "Next."
• Step 4: Select Students and Complete Assistance Questions
  1. Select the student(s) for whom you are applying.
  2. Answer the required household questions:
     • Are there any other students in your household?
     • Do any students in your household receive income?
     • Are any students Foster, Homeless, Migrant, or Runaway?
     • Does anyone in the household currently participate in SNAP or TANF?

  If You Receive SNAP or TANF Benefits

  1. Select "Yes" when asked about assistance programs.
  2. Complete the Assistance Information page:
     • Select the benefit type:
       • SNAP
       • TANF
     • Enter your case number.
  3. Select "Next."
  4. The Household Information section is not required for households receiving SNAP or TANF benefits.
  5. Select "Next" to proceed to the Review page.

  1. Enter income information, if applicable.
  2. Select "Save Member" after entering each household member.
  3. Add any additional household members.
  4. Enter or update household income information.
  5. Use the navigation buttons to return to previous sections if corrections are needed.
  6. Select "Next."
• Step 6: Review Application

  Carefully review all information entered, including:

  • Selected student(s)
  • Assistance program information
  • Household size
  • Household income

  If changes are needed, return to the appropriate section and make corrections before continuing.

• Step 7: Additional Details (Optional)
  1. Complete any optional demographic information if desired.
  2. This section is not required to receive free or reduced-price meal benefits.
  3. Select "Next."
• Step 8: Submit Application
  1. Enter the last four digits of your Social Security Number, if applicable.
  2. Electronically sign the application.
  3. Select "Submit" to send your application for processing.
• Step 9: Confirmation and Records
  1. Review the confirmation message indicating your application was successfully submitted.
  2. Download or print a copy of the completed application for your records.

• View application submission dates.
• Check the status of your application.
• Open and review submitted applications.
• Access eligibility notification letters at any time.

• Set Automatic Payment
  • Click “Students → Automatic Payments.”
  • Click “Set” in a student listing.
  • Enter dollar amount in “Payment Amount.”
  • Enter dollar amount in “Balance Threshold” to trigger an automatic payment.
  • Select a payment source, or enter information for a new card.
  • Enter a date in “Expire Auto Pay On” to stop automatic payments.
  • Click Save
• Set Low Balance Alert
  • Click “Students → Student Accounts.”
  • Click the bell icon (Low Balance Alert) in a student listing.
  • Enter dollar amount to trigger the alert in “Threshold.”
  • Enter the number of days to expire before resending the alerts.
  • Click “Save.”

Passes are only good for regular season contests held in Virginia Beach.
