The Virginia Beach School Board received information about proposed federal grant applications at its May 12 meeting. For the 2026-27 school year, Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) would receive approximately $18.9 million in formula grant funds through programs authorized under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA).

The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) released Standard of Learning (SOL) pass rate data on Aug. 27. The overall SOL pass rates for Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) exceeded the state pass rates in all subject areas.

The below information is to be used as references for those interested in the subject PPEA RFP. Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking proposals from qualified respondents to contract with an experienced and qualified Private Entity under the Public Private Education Facilities and Infrastructure Act of 2002 and in accordance with School Board Policy 3-71: Public-Private Education Facilities and Infrastructure Act Projects and PPEA Guidelines and Supporting Documents, for the design and construction of three CIP replacement school projects. Proposed CIP projects and supporting information are listed below.

The Office of Facilities Services is responsible for new school construction as well as major renovations to school facilities. Facilities Services also manages the division’s real estate portfolio, encompassing ninety assets totaling approximately two thousand acres.
