Our mission is to raise private sector support to fund innovative learning programs and initiatives that support the whole child for the students of Virginia Beach City Public Schools and to reward educational excellence.

The Foundation is a vision that has become a reality for making a difference in Virginia Beach City Public Schools through gifts and donations. Community volunteers comprise the nonprofit organization whose mission is to encourage support of our schools through tax-deductible contributions. The measure of achievement is the continuous improvement of student academic performance.

For Students

Beach Bags: The VBEF supports our students and addresses food insecurity through the Beach Bags Program. The foundation distributes approximately 45,000 Beach Bags annually, providing nutritious food to students for the weekends and holidays.

VA Star: The Virginia Student Training and Refurbishment (VA STAR) program – in partnership with the Virginia Beach Education Foundation – refurbishes donated computers for distribution to students from some of the city’s neediest families.

The House Students Built: The VBEF partners with the Technical and Career Education educators and local construction businesses to design, build, and sell single-family homes. The 12th house is in the final stages of construction. local These projects have impacted the Virginia Beach City Public Schools in the following ways:

Hands-on training provided to over 60 Technical and Career Education Center students annually.
Scholarships and grants awarded from the net profits of the house sales exceed $850,000.
Community involvement in the form of donations of materials and time is valued at over $150,000 per house.

Scholarships: The VBEF partners with various community members who wish to provide scholarships to VBCPS students. These scholarships are listed on Scholarship Central.

For the Community

The VBEF provides businesses and members of the community with an opportunity to give generously to causes that matter. The foundation puts the “fun” in fundraising and engages the community through several events and celebrations annually.
