Online Learning (9-12)

What is an online learning laboratory?
Students attending Renaissance Academy may be assigned to an online learning laboratory for one or more academic courses when placement in a regular classroom setting is not possible. The online curriculum provides a graded, self-paced instructional program for independent study to receive credit. Students have access to their courses in a computer lab setting during the regular school day and are supported by a certified teacher/facilitator who monitors their progress.

When would a student be placed in an online learning lab?
A student may be scheduled in an online learning lab when a required placement course is not being offered at Renaissance Academy. A student may also be placed in order to resolve a scheduling conflict. Other considerations are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

How does a student enter the program?
A student must be enrolled at Renaissance Academy and be referred by a counselor or dean to participate in the online learning program.

What courses are offered?
Specific course offerings and seat availability varies.

Are special education students accepted?
Special education students may participate in online learning if a review of their Individual Education Programs (IEP) indicates it is a proper placement for them.
