2026-27 federal grant information presented to Virginia Beach School Board

The Virginia Beach School Board received information about proposed federal grant applications at its May 12 meeting. For the 2026-27 school year, Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) would receive approximately $18.9 million in formula grant funds through programs authorized under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA).

The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) released Standard of Learning (SOL) pass rate data on Aug. 27. The overall SOL pass rates for Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) exceeded the state pass rates in all subject areas.

Summer Learning Boost for High School

Summer school 2026 information is coming soon. Please check back often!

Boost opportunities consist of ten or twelve asynchronous lessons and are intended to have students complete one lesson per day.

Electronic registration for Boost Opportunities is not required. Students will join the Boost opportunity through Canvas by using a course code.

How to Join a Boost course:

  1. Select the link to the appropriate Boost opportunity.
  2. Select “Enroll in Course” button.
  3. An email will be issued before June 16 to access the Boost
