VBCPS students outperform state on SOL tests

The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) released Standard of Learning (SOL) pass rate data on Aug. 27. The overall SOL pass rates for Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) exceeded the state pass rates in all subject areas.

Virginia Beach City Public Schools Music Education Program Receives National Recognition for 16th Year

For the 16th time, Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation. Now in its 26th year, the Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement for providing music access and education to all students.

2025 Citywide Volunteers of the Year

Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) values and promotes active engagement of the community in all our schools. The Office of Family and Community Engagement coordinates many volunteer opportunities for community members to interact and contribute to the academic achievement of our students and the overall continuous improvement of VBCPS.

2025-26 federal grant information presented to Virginia Beach School Board

The Virginia Beach School Board received information about proposed federal grant applications at its May 13 meeting. For the 2025-26 school year, Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) would receive approximately $21.6 million in formula grant funds through programs authorized under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA).

2025 High School Summer School Opportunities and Registration

The 2025 high school summer programs provide opportunities for:

  • Virginia Beach Digital Campus credit courses for students who want to accelerate their program of study or those behind in credits needing a full course to stay on the proper graduation schedule. (VBDC) Course dates are June 17 - August 5.
  • Repeat courses are only for students who did not successfully complete a course during the regular school year (Repeat Face to Face Courses)
  • Preparation opportunities for select math or science courses to develop skills for the upcoming school year (Boosts)
  • SOL Fast Track Tutoring for students who need to retake an SOL assessment to meet the Standards of Learning (SOL) verified credit diploma criteria.

Virginia Beach Digital Campus (VBDC) electronic registration and payment begins on May 5, 2025 through the Web Store. Registration closes on June 9, 2025. VBDC course electronic registration and payment must be completed before leaving the webstore. Students are not officially registered until payment is processed through the webstore. A student identification number (lunch number) will need to be provided at the time of registration. Students may be registered to take up to two VBDC courses.

Repeat face-to-face course electronic registration and payment must be completed before leaving the webstore. Students are not officially registered until payment is processed through the webstore. Boost Boost opportunities will be accessed through Canvas. There is no electronic registration or payment required for Boost opportunities. For more information, please access the Boost Icon located below.

Registration for SOL Fast Track Tutoring will be processed by each school. There is no electronic registration or payment required for SOL Fast Track Tutoring.

Registration for Special Education Summer School Opportunities will be processed by each school.
