Now in its 26th year, the Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement for providing music access and education to all students.

2025 Citywide Volunteers of the Year

Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) values and promotes active engagement of the community in all our schools. The Office of Family and Community Engagement coordinates many volunteer opportunities for community members to interact and contribute to the academic achievement of our students and the overall continuous improvement of VBCPS.

2025-26 federal grant information presented to Virginia Beach School Board

The Virginia Beach School Board received information about proposed federal grant applications at its May 13 meeting. For the 2025-26 school year, Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) would receive approximately $21.6 million in formula grant funds through programs authorized under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA).

Application Process/Required Documents

The application for the 2025-2026 school year opens on January 22, 2025 and will remain open through May 30, 2025. It will reopen on June16, 2025 for the waitlist only. The waitlist application will remain open through September 1, 2025.

Pre-K enrollment is contingent upon validation of all required documents. 

Apply for Pre-K (2025-2026) from January 22, 2025 until May 30, 2025 for first-round placements. You may still apply from from June 16, 2025 through September 1, 2025 for the waitlist. We will continue to offer placements to students from the waitlist if we have openings.
