Application Process

Students interested in attending one of the school division’s academy programs and/or advanced academic programs are required to submit an application. Each program has specific application requirements as listed below.

Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) students who have applied for an academy program can still log into their application to check for any status updates. To log into the system, please use the following link: academyapplication.vbcps.com. VBCPS students will log in with their VBCPS student credentials to check on the status of their application.

January 16, 2018 was the deadline for all VBCPS students to submit their applications online and for non-VBCPS students to submit their application to the appropriate coordinator of the program(s) to which they are applying. Timelines related to the selection and appeal process are available on the Application Timelines webpage.

During the selection process, each program will establish a waiting list of students in the event that a student who is offered a position chooses not to accept or transfers prior to the start of the school year. The waiting list will remain active only until the last business day prior to the first day of school. Students must re-apply for consideration for the next school year.
