Welcome to Compass 2030: Learning Today, Leading Tomorrow

More than a year ago, we embarked on a journey to create a new strategic framework that will guide our school division into the future. The Compass to 2030 framework reflects our commitment to preparing our students for success in a rapidly changing world. Throughout this process, we have sought and valued input from our community to ensure that the plan aligns with the needs and aspirations of our students, families, and staff.

Our Process

To develop the framework, we engaged in a comprehensive and collaborative process, including:

  • Community Meetings: We held open meetings inviting our community to learn about our accomplishments as a division and provide input into the future of the division.
  • Public Input Website: We provided a platform for you to share your ideas about the skills and abilities students need to be successful in the future and what VBCPS can do in partnership with families and the community to help students gain these skills.
  • Focus Groups: We conducted targeted discussions with diverse groups representing students, parents, educators, and community leaders to gather in-depth perspectives.
  • Community Strategic Planning Committee: A dedicated committee of parents, students, teachers, support staff, administrators and community members worked diligently to draft goals that reflect our shared vision for the future.
  • Public Comment Period: We invited students, staff, families, and community members to provide feedback on the draft framework using an online platform. The feedback received and subsequent revisions to the framework were shared with the School Board in November 2024. The framework was approved on November 26, 2024 and will take effect beginning July 1, 2025.

Now, We Want to Hear From You Again

We are excited to share the draft of the Compass to 2030 framework and invite your feedback. Your insights are crucial in helping us ensure it best meets the needs of our students today and in the years to come.

How You Can Provide Feedback

Please take a moment to review the draft plan and share your thoughts. Your feedback will help us strengthen the framework and guide our efforts as we work together toward a bright future for our students.

Please provide your feedback by Wednesday, October 23, 2024. The feedback received will be shared with the School Board at the November 12, 2024 meeting. Thank you for being a vital part of this journey. Together, we are shaping the future of our school division.
