These measures provide a more detailed view of school quality and student outcomes across the state.
The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) released Standard of Learning (SOL) pass rate data on Aug. 27. The overall SOL pass rates for Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) exceeded the state pass rates in all subject areas.

Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) students continued to demonstrate strong academic performance on the 2025-2026 Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) assessments, outperforming the state on every reading, writing, science and history assessment, and on all mathematics assessments except Grade 7 Math.
Overall, VBCPS students improved performance on 14 of 28 SOL assessments, maintained performance on five assessments, and saw gains across every history test administered. Significant improvements included a 7 percentage-point increase in World Geography, a 5-point increase in both World History I and World History II, and a 4-point increase in Virginia Studies.
"These results reflect both areas of strong achievement and opportunities for continued growth," said Superintendent Dr. Donald Robertson Jr.
VBCPS will continue working with schools to strengthen student achievement while maintaining performance levels that rank among the highest in Hampton Roads and above state averages. VBCPS will continue to direct resources, provide targeted supports, and strengthen instruction to ensure that every student—particularly students with disabilities, English learners and African American students—has the opportunity to thrive.
