Dr. Alveta Green, Virginia Beach School Board Member for District 4, has been selected for two significant leadership opportunities that will strengthen her work on behalf of Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS).

She will participate in the National School Boards Association (NSBA) Policy Leadership Cohort Institute with 125 other school board members from across the United States. Her program's focus will be on advancing governance in special education. Cohort members will work in teams to research a shared problem of practice, develop practical policy recommendations, and produce a board ready Capstone Policy Action Plan to be presented during the NSBA Advocacy Institute. Participants will be recognized as members of the 2026-2027 Policy Leadership Cohort and as NSBA Policy Leadership Fellows.

“I am honored to continue my professional growth as a member of the policy institute,” Dr. Green said. “This opportunity will strengthen my skills in policy development and refinement, which is one of the key responsibilities of a school board member.”

Dr. Green has also been appointed to the 2027 Virginia School Boards Association Federal Relations Committee, which advocates federal issues impacting school divisions across the Commonwealth.
