Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) and An Achievable Dream (AAD) have expanded their partnership with the opening of a new addition at Lynnhaven Middle School. The 25,000-square-foot addition is the home to the Lynnhaven AAD High School Program. The program currently services ninth through 11th graders and will expand to 12th grade next year.

The School Board is conducting a Superintendent search to fill the position of Superintendent of Virginia Beach City Public Schools. A vacancy was created on September 1, 2023 after Dr. Spence resigned to take a position with another school division. Dr. Donald E. Robertson Jr. was appointed Acting Superintendent effective September 1, 2023 and the time period to appoint a new Superintendent began on September 1, 2023.
The School Board hired the consulting firm of Hazard Young Atea Associates to assist the School Board with a nationwide superintendent search. The calendar for the Superintendent search is set forth below.
