Twenty mentors from Naval Special Warfare Group 2 (SPECWAR) make students at Thoroughgood Elementary feel very special. This successful Model Partnership brings school and military together to raise the self-esteem of identified students at Thoroughgood. The SPECWAR mentors meet twice a month with their student mentee, to eat lunch and spend time together. However, the relationship and fun doesn't stop there! Mentors celebrate holidays and birthdays with their student, and applaud their special achievements. They assist students with schoolwork and engage in recreational activities, as well. This successful partnership has earned a great reputation at Thoroughgood, and has students clamoring to get a lunch buddy too! The mentors from Naval Special Warfare Group 2 are indeed special people who fill a special role!
