Kings Grant Presbyterian Church and
King's Grant Elementary

This decade long partnership addresses the needs of students experiencing reading difficulties at King's Grant Elementary School through the assistance of volunteer reading tutors from King's Grant Presbyterian Church. Identified students are tutored weekly by trained volunteers from the church. The church's Outreach Division also provides monetary support of the program, enabling the school's Reading Resource Specialist to purchase books for tutoring sessions. Upon completion of the tutoring program, children receive the books to add to their personal collections at home. Each year that the program has been in existence, the children have demonstrated improvement in reading levels and fluency. Now that's a great story!
