2003-2004 School Year

Automotive Youth Education System (A-YES) Advisory Council and
Virginia Beach Central Academy

The A-YES Advisory Council oversees the automotive servicing program at Virginia Beach Central Academy's Center for Applied Technology. Through this partnership, the organization makes recommendations regarding curriculum, shares in educational decision-making processes, and provides a clear path for students who are in search of future career options. This is accomplished by offering job shadowing experiences, internships with local area dealerships, scholarships provided by A-YES, and providing input into state-of-the-art equipment developments. This three-year-old program has resulted in the placement of several students in area automotive dealerships, often as a consequence of student internships. This benefits both the students and the dealerships by providing a source of raw talent. This ability to "grow your own" workforce is appealing and cost effective, reducing training costs in the long run. This Model Partnership really "drives" Central Academy students to success!
