Sentara Village and
Arrowhead Elementary School

This partnership, an intergenerational mix of seniors and students, receives enthusiastic praise from the students at Arrowhead Elementary. For thirteen years , the interaction created by this Model Partnership has bridged the gap between the generations by establishing genuine relationships between children and senior residents of Sentara Village. Students service to residents includes decorating doors for holidays, bringing gifts, sharing original stories and artwork, and singing and performing. In turn, seniors share their favorite childhood books and stories about their personal experiences with Arrowhead students and devote time to volunteering at the school. The longevity of this program is a testament to its success!
