Students in this workforce development program get more than their fifteen minutes of fame through this Model Partnership. They have the opportunity to gain insight into the professional video world and use state of the art equipment as well as editing and graphic software similar to what they would encounter on the job. Since its inception in 1994, over 150 students have been rotated through VBTV, gaining experience while providing VBTV with much needed production assistance. According to VBTV, they "have saved hundreds of man hours through the service of trained and mentored students." Through their work in production of VBTV's Newscan", Tech Center students can "take center stage" in helping produce a weekly TV program. Also, students produce and direct "Check The Tech", one of the few shows in the state of Virginia that is produced and directed by high school juniors and is broadcast throughout a large city. It is a pleasure to shine the spotlight on this Model Partnership.
