Chrysler Museum of Art and Corporate Landing Middle and Luxford Elementary Schools The partnership between the Chrysler Museum of Art and VBCPS is two-fold. At Corporate Landing Middle School, "Art as a Window to History," the brainchild of art teacher Sue Morandi, creates a bridge of learning between art and seventh grade history, in support of the Virginia Social Studies Standards of Learning, through tours and companion programs related to American History, supported by a teacher's guide and curriculum materials. At Luxford, the Museum has been instrumental in the establishment and training of a new Student Art Council, conceived by principal Joanne D'Agostino. This organization was formed to curate annual exhibitions in the newly created Student Art Gallery in the school's Conversation Café. Because of these two relationships, students, teachers, staff and parents at Corporate Landing Middle and Luxford Elementary Schools are painting success in broad strokes.  |
