2001 Exemplary Partnership Award Winner

New Life Christian Fellowship and Parkway Elemetary School At Parkway Elementary School, New Life Christian Fellowship entered into partnership last October for F.R.I.E.N.D.S., an acronym meaning Forming Relationships Is Essential in Nurturing and Directing Students. This one-on-one mentoring program brought New Life representatives to the school once a week to spend an hour with students after school. Twelve mentors and students gave attention to school work, talked about events in the students' lives, played games, and built trusting and dependable relationships. Mentors and students flew kites, read character-building books, played basketball, and made crafts. This partnership has resulted in improved grades, work habits, and behavior. Teachers had great things to say about the positive changes they saw in students' behavior and the quality of their work after working with their mentors.
