Thalia Lions and Adult Learning Center
In 1992, the Thalia Lions Club became partners with the Adult Learning Center with a two-fold purpose: to assist the Center in its delivery of adult basic education and to introduce opportunities and examples of community service to the Center's students. Members of the Thalia Lions Club serve as mentors and tutors, help maintain computers in the Center's lab, offer vision and hearing screenings at the Center as well as testing to determine need for special education services for students. The Thalia Lions also offer an annual $500 scholarship to Tidewater Community College to Adult Learning Center students who earn their GEDs.
