ProjectsThe Virginia Beach Education Foundation marked its ninth year of awarding funds to Virginia Beach City Public Schools teachers for educational projects the teachers designed for their students. At its annual Teacher Grants Improve Futures (TGIF) Celebration on November 15, 2007, the Education Foundation doled out $120,000 in the form of grants; 116 for the 2007-2008 school year. Commemorative Print The 2008 Commemorative Print, “The Beginning,” by Dottie Holtz, computer resource specialist at Thoroughgood Elementary School is available. School-Wide Grants For the 2007-2008 school year, the Education Foundation Board of Directors awarded $25,000 to Virginia Beach City Public Schools administrators for school-wide projects. In the form of School-Wide Grants, seven different schools were given up to $5,000 each to implement projects that will enhance their students' educational opportunities. Building Futures Grants The Education Foundation has awarded more than $469,500 in Building Futures Grants benefiting students, in grades K-12, in public schools across the City. As a result, thousands of teachers collaborated to complete innovative projects in their classrooms. Student Scholarships Scholarships are available through donor designations. House Building Projects Six single-family dwellings have been successfully planned, financed, constructed and sold since the Education Foundation’s inception. These projects have impacted the Virginia Beach City Public Schools in the following ways:
Golf Tournament The 13th Annual VBPS Education Foundation Golf Tournament raised over $39,000 for the fifth consecutive year, thanks to sponsors, donors, and volunteers!
