Meet our 2008 Volunteers of the Year

VOY

Brandon Middle School
Tani Cornelius

When she is not helping teachers, training volunteers, and supporting the school orchestra, Tani is leading multiple Girl Scout troops and attending school full time.  Brandon feels "deeply indebted for her hard work and for caring about its students.”

VOY

Brookwood Elementary School
Barbara Seltzer

This volunteer "has a big heart and always wants to help." Barbara's annual gifts of photo albums of school events are a cherished treasure, and her generous support of students and families is appreciated by all at Brookwood!

VOY

Center for Effective Learning
Brian Black

Brian's volunteer work at CEL is "motivating students to succeed and achieve a higher standard of behavior!" Students are rewarded with his hip hop dance lessons at school, and they will show off their skills at a hip hop student showcase this year.

VOY

Centerville Elementary School
Shaniqua Oliver

Centerville can count on this "dependable team player" to help everywhere from the library and clinic to classrooms and the office. Her "integrity, kindness, and positive attitude" are noted by many, and she "makes Centerville Elementary shine."

VOY

Central Office
William Brunke

This Education Foundation Board member doesn't sit for long. He is always on the move reviewing the Foundation's books for audit, selling tickets for the car raffle, and driving the beverage cart at the annual golf tournament. Thank you, Bill!

VOY

Christopher Farms Elementary School
Amy Titus

When she is not chairing events like the school's Silent Auction and Pastries for Parents, Amy is working in classrooms helping children and teachers. "No matter the request, Amy is cheerful, willing, reliable, and extremely competent."  CFES thanks you!

VOY

College Park Elementary School
Stacie Dayton

Assuming the role of PTA President mid-year, Stacie "tirelessly volunteers" on various school committees and in classrooms while managing a full plate of PTA duties. Also active with her Homeowner's Association, many find Stacie's work invaluable!

VOY

Cooke Elementary School
Kim Scholl

Dubbed the "Copy Queen" for her staff support, Kim also leads a free fitness class after school for staff. "Making time for others is her philosophy," and the students and staff at Cooke are thrilled that Kim spends her time supporting them.

VOY

Corporate Landing Elementary School
Scott Allen

"A positive role model for all students," Scott is a "smiling and cheerful" volunteer on whom both the teachers and students know they can count and trust. He never misses a Wednesday of volunteering and will help any student in need.

VOY

Corporate Landing Middle School
Lou Zielinski

This volunteer's lessons in marketing, math, international trade, and global studies have the Jets soaring to new heights. Lou is "making a positive impact on students achieving SOL objectives," and the students also learn from his workplace experience.
