Adult Learning Center - Roland Craig

As a math and reading/language tutor, Roland is a dependable ALC volunteer. The extra time he spends with individual students "has often made the difference between success and discouragement." His academic assistance has been so valuable!

Advanced Technology Center - David Burt

ATC recognizes two volunteers who are passionate about workforce readiness in the marine industry. Their work writing curriculum and seeking community support has opened the door for students to take a new course in marine engineering and design.

Alanton Elementary - Karan Alan

A former PTA President, Karan is leaving a positive mark at Alanton in all that she does. She encourages parents to be active partners in the school, and she helps with family dinners, Operation Smile, and fun runs. She always puts Alanton's needs first!

Arrowhead Elementary - Tiffany Hall

Described as a "dynamo," this volunteer "wears many hats" at Arrowhead. From the security desk to the copy room, Tiffany is always lending a hand. She serves on many committees, writes grants, and is a leader in the PTA. Hats off to Tiffany!’

Bayside Elementary - Kory McKeel

Kory's "tireless efforts have made her a vital part of the school community.” She coordinated a Family Fitness Night and helped with the Fall Festival and Friendship Dance. She "never misses" a PTA event, and the school values her many gifts and talents!

Bayside High - Jowain Brinkley

Whether Jowain is helping the band, the SCA, in Guidance, in Attendance, or with school activities, she “pours her heart out for Bayside.” Her compassion and work ethic are admired by all Marlins, and they say they “would be lost without her.”

Bayside Middle - Charlene Cifuentes

Whether she is tutoring students, selling concessions, or helping the PTA, Charlene "always volunteers with a smile.” This dependable volunteer always shows Bayside Middle students how much she cares about their success.

Bayside Tri-Campus - Ava Holden

“Ava is a shining star in our Tri-Campus!” Instrumental in distributing new contact information during the opening of the new Newtown, Ava also helps in third grade classrooms. She is “always there” to lend a helping hand.

Birdneck Elementary - Kim Miller

She paints beautiful murals for the school, but teachers say that it's Kim's beautiful spirit that has made the biggest impact on Birdneck. While battling cancer, she has devoted hundreds of hours of service. She is a "Birdneck hero” who has won many hearts!

Brandon Middle - Tani Cornelius

When she is not helping teachers, training volunteers, and supporting the school orchestra, Tani is leading multiple Girl Scout troops and attending school full time. Brandon feels "deeply indebted for her hard work and for caring about its students.”

Brookwood Elementary - Barbara Seltzer

This volunteer "has a big heart and always wants to help." Barbara's annual gifts of photo albums of school events are a cherished treasure, and her generous support of students and families is appreciated by all at Brookwood!

Center for Effective Learning - Brian Black

Brian's volunteer work at CEL is "motivating students to succeed and achieve a higher standard of behavior!" Students are rewarded with his hip hop dance lessons at school, and they will show off their skills at a hip hop student showcase this year.

Centerville Elementary - Shaniqua Oliver

Centerville can count on this "dependable team player" to help everywhere from the library and clinic to classrooms and the office. Her "integrity, kindness, and positive attitude" are noted by many, and she "makes Centerville Elementary shine."

Central Office - William Brunke

This Education Foundation Board member doesn't sit for long. He is always on the move reviewing the Foundation's books for audit, selling tickets for the car raffle, and driving the beverage cart at the annual golf tournament. Thank you, Bill!

Christopher Farms Elementary - Amy Titus

When she is not chairing events like the school's Silent Auction and Pastries for Parents, Amy is working in classrooms helping children and teachers. "No matter the request, Amy is cheerful, willing, reliable, and extremely competent." CFES thanks you!

College Park Elementary - Stacie Dayton

Assuming the role of PTA President mid-year, Stacie "tirelessly volunteers" on various school committees and in classrooms while managing a full plate of PTA duties. Also active with her Homeowner's Association, many find Stacie's work invaluable!

Cooke Elementary - Kim Scholl

Dubbed the "Copy Queen" for her staff support, Kim also leads a free fitness class after school for staff. "Making time for others is her philosophy," and the students and staff at Cooke are thrilled that Kim spends her time supporting them.

Corporate Landing Elementary - Scott Allen

A positive role model for all students, Scott is a "smiling and cheerful" volunteer on whom both the teachers and students know they can count and trust. He never misses a Wednesday of volunteering and will help any student in need.

Corporate Landing Middle - Lou Zielinski

This volunteer's lessons in marketing, math, international trade, and global studies have the Jets soaring to new heights. Lou is "making a positive impact on students achieving SOL objectives," and the students also learn from his workplace experience.

Cox High - Janis Prock

A PTSA volunteer for over two decades, Janis is playing an “invaluable role” at Cox. Chairing the All-Night Grad Party and Booster Club committees, this volunteer still makes time to be “team mom” for both Cox volleyball teams and attends every game.

Creeds Elementary - Whitney Irizarry

When she's not creating the PTA newsletter, planning monthly teacher luncheons, or working in classrooms, Whitney is helping with any and all school activities. She's "a consistent support system for teachers" and the students "can't wait" to see her

Fairfield Elementary - Cathie Brown

Cathie can be found lending a hand at Fairfield almost daily. A PTA Board member, she also helps with the Take Home Reading program, Talent Show, Drama Club, and coordinates the student directory. Many teachers are grateful for Cathie's extra help.

First Colonial High - Sue Budorick

A mother of four, this “hard working, dedicated, self starter” helped the school PTSA exceed its fundraising goal by over $5,000. Sue’s “perseverance and boundless energy” are valued by many at FCHS. They love her Patriot pride!

Glenwood Elementary - Rosa Choiniere

Known to take home work with her, Glenwood teachers call this volunteer "priceless!" Rosa is "creative, outgoing, generous" and always asks what she can do to help. Bulletin boards, copies, special projects - the Gators say she's "outstanding!"

Great Neck Middle - Heather Malaby

While she serves as the Virginia Beach Council PTA President, Heather still spends "countless hours" at Great Neck ensuring the marquee is up to date, helping the band, and volunteering at school activities. Her community volunteerism is valued by many.

Green Run Elementary - Fran Bouchard

This volunteer's efforts have lead to tens of thousands of dollars in Specialty Fundraising points and funds for Green Run. Fran also oversees the Books are Great program and helps in the library. She is "dependable" and "sets a good example" for all!

Green Run High - Mary Levin

Called a “great role model” for parents and students, Mary is a dedicated supporter of the NJROTC and serves on many PTSA committees. The Stallions salute her “commitment and compassion” for working hard to serve students and to better their education.

Hermitage Elementary - Kasha Winston

Third, fourth, and fifth grade teachers are grateful to this volunteer for "lightening their load." Fran "always goes above and beyond" what is requested and serves on many school committees. Students are fans of visits from her four-legged SPCA friends.

Holland Elementary - Sandra King

For a decade, this current PTA President has supported Holland with her "positive attitude and team spirit." Sandra treats every child "as if they were her very own" and has initiated many student-centered activities. She is a "valuable asset!"

Independence Middle - Mary Bre

Mary has been mistaken as a full-time employee because of her active involvement at Independence. In addition to creating a VIE listserv and conducting training, she helps teachers, prepares mailings, and fundraises. IMS thanks this "selfless" volunteer!

Kempsville Elementary - Dianna McDowell

Dianna is credited with bringing many curriculum-related programs to KES along with initiating five Destination ImagiNation teams. Called "super human," she works at evening events, finds guest speakers, and helps in classrooms. She is "outstanding!"

Indian Lakes Elementary - Melanie Dickinson

Being the PTA Newsletter editor and VIE coordinator keeps this PTA Board member busy, but she also volunteers in the library and in classrooms. "Melanie is proof of how teachers, parents, and the community can work effectively to assist students."

Kempsville High - Kathleen Rupprecht

Kathleen serves as the Booster Club President, PTSA Executive Board Member, a guidance volunteer, and is a dedicated parent. She "leads by example," and her "dedication to and caring for KHS will truly be missed" after a decade of service.

John B. Dey Elementary - Lisa Trainor

As PTA Treasurer, Lisa has made many accounting improvements that have helped all. In classrooms, she works with students, makes copies, helps in the science lab, and more. John B. Dey applauds this "positive, productive, and dedicated volunteer!"

Kempsville Middle - Lisa Saunders

This PTA Treasurer has a "can do, will do, get it done" attitude that is admired by many! Lisa has helped raise significant funds for the PTA and serves as co-chair for the Boosters. She is a responsible and dependable volunteer for Kempsville Middle.

Kellam High - Andrea Correia

Andrea is “always willing to lend a hand” to the Knights! She organized an indoor flea market with over 50 vendors to raise money for the Celebrate Life party, and she is an active Booster Club board member. Kellam is grateful for her spirit and smiles!

Kempsville Meadows Elementary - Terri Sawyer

In her first year as a volunteer, Terri has made a great impression with her "diligence, generosity and joyful attitude!" She serves as a room mother and copies and collates materials for all teachers. The library benefits from her service as well.

Kemps Landing Magnet - Nancy Miller

A dedicated volunteer in the school store, Nancy also helps the band, chaperones field trips, and assists two teams. Her "cheery attitude" and "professional support" makes Nancy a favorite volunteer at Kemps Landing.

King's Grant Elementary - Mary Richardson

As VIE Coordinator, this Students are reading more thanks to the generous giving of time and resources by this volunteer. Often confused as a staff member, Mary's "dedication is endless." She helps with instruction, decorations, reading - you name it. KGES can't thank her enough!

Kingston Elementary - Megan Inglesby

Megan's Watch DOGS program (Dads of Great Students) has increased male volunteer participation in record numbers. Her commitment, enthusiasm, and welcoming demeanor have made a positive impact on all at Kingston!

Linkhorn Park Elementary - Mary Dobrow

Described as having "a winning smile and a big heart of gold," Mary helps with everything from copies and carnivals to student folders and fundraising. Her generous donations of time and gifts keep the Lions smiling.

Landstown Elementary - Jeri Blythe

This PTA public relations chairperson is always looking to make connections to improve student learning. She is starting a mentor program, helps in classrooms, and maintains bulletin boards. She is a "go-getter and a wonderful asset to the community."

Luxford Elementary - Wanda Odango

This volunteer is dancing her way into the hearts of Luxford students and staff. In addition to helping with the school's Dance Club, Wanda serves on the Guidance Advisory Council and helps in classrooms. She is "always ready to help!"

Landstown High - Kim Sendzik

Serving as the Eagle Athletic Association President is just one of the many ways that this full-time neonatal nurse and mother of four supports Landstown High School. Her warm personality and dedication "has made the school a better place."

Lynnhaven Elementary - Sara Meyer

No matter how small the task, this volunteer proves to always be dependable, reliable, and trustworthy. Her "positive attitude" is contagious, and she makes work light and cheerful for everyone.

Landstown Middle - Jeffrey Heller

Jeffrey has been called a "Lancer in Shining Armor" for how he stepped in and stepped up to help the PTA Board. His work with the Drama Club, tutoring, and membership is "remarkable," and his "upbeat and infectious" personality keeps everyone smiling!

Lynnhaven Middle - Dawn Dovel

An active volunteer at two schools, Dawn can "always be counted on to make each school event special to children." Her work as VIE co-chair, a team parent, and her help with the school's rain garden make her a volunteer that Lynnhaven applauds!

Larkspur Middle - Jackie Hoover

As a PTA Board member, Jackie has given nights, weekends, and summer days to help "make this the best year ever for the LKMS PTA." Her help with membership, fundraisers, dances, and copies make her "an asset" to the school.

Malibu Elementary - Carrie White

Malibu students have new microscopes thanks to Carrie's dedication to collecting box tops and soup labels. Her organization and dedication makes recordkeeping efficient, and her service in the teacher workroom frees up teachers' time for more planning.

New Castle Elementary - Jennifer Hall

A PTA Executive Board member, Jennifer is busy with the newsletter, school carnival, teacher appreciation, and more. She's provided "invaluable" help with Grandparent's Day activities and "never fails" to offer her assistance to any class or project.

Parkway Elementary - Tim Trammell

This PTA Treasurer and Navy Chief is involved with all Parkway activities - from planning and set up to clean up! He even posed as the Panther mascot for an Open House, much to the delight of students. "With his diligent work," Parkway has done so much!

North Landing Elementary - Christine Erie

Described as an "across-the-board volunteer," Christine serves in the classroom, library, copy room, computer lab, school dances, carnivals, and field trips - to name a few. Her six years of service have made her "part of the fabric of the NLES family."

Pembroke Elementary - Jeanne Blair

When she is not laminating items for the entire school, Jeanne leads the Mini-Mustangs program to encourage reading at home. Her work at school events helps them produce "fun, safe, and thorough events without a hitch!"

Ocean Lakes Elementary - Jamie Ridgway

As PTA Vice President, Jamie is making "outstanding contributions to OLES students." She can always be counted on to lend a helping hand, and she involves her five children and husband at every PTA event. It's always a family affair!

Pembroke Meadows Elementary - Roger Vaughan

Roger's "passion for learning inspires students to do their best." His Spooky Science Lab carnival event is always a hit, and he is a dedicated science lab assistant. Also very active in his civic league, Roger always makes time to help at PMES.

Ocean Lakes High - Denise Maurer

For over a decade, Denise has been a "faithful, reliable, and dedicated volunteer." She serves in leadership roles, coordinates the athletic banquets, and manages concession stand sales. The Dolphins say they are "in awe" of her outstanding service!

Plaza Elementary - Stacey Odom

A daily volunteer at Plaza, Stacey is a familiar face in first grade classrooms. She helps with reading and math, reviews classwork, and organizes papers. She assists at PTA events and is "an integral part of the Plaza Elementary family."

Old Donation Center - Ashley McLeod

An active member of her community, Ashley also serves ODC as one of its finest volunteers. This PTA President helps with fundraisers, festivals, luncheons, classes, and more - always showing a "love for learning and advocacy of the students."

Plaza Middle - Shawn Hinton

Producing the school newsletter, Shawn makes sure that everyone stays informed. She "tirelessly gives of her time and expertise and is an incredible advocate for children." She helps over 5,000 students through her work with AAA's Safety Patrol Program.

Point O'View Elementary - Cyndi Kight

Her calligraphy adorns student certificates and her leadership is found throughout Point O' View. Cyndi's work with Bingo Nights, membership drives, carnivals are only part of her "tireless efforts" to do whatever she can to help the school and the PTA.

Red Mill Elementary - Terri Wernick

As VIE Chairperson, Terri welcomes and accounts for every Red Mill volunteer. Her volunteer recognition efforts are valued, along with her help with PREP, crafts, and special projects. The Dolphins "cannot sing her praises any louder!"

Princess Anne Elementary - Janine Sarach

Janine's leadership with the Alumni Scholarship Auction resulted in over $10,000 for college-bound PAES alumni. Only one of her many service efforts, teachers say that Janine is "dedicated, organized, innovative, and eager to make a difference."

Rosemont Elementary - Sharon DePeralta

Positive, creative, and enthusiastic, are used to describe this volunteer who serves on the PTA Board, School Planning Council, and Title I Parent and Guidance Advisory Committees. The Step Team and FAST Program also benefit from her tireless service.

Princess Anne High - Ellen "Merri" Solon

Merri is demonstrating her "commitment to the future success of every student" through her work with the school's NJROTC. She coordinates and manages fundraisers for the cadets, chaperones weekend events, and provides transportation.

Rosemont Forest Elementary - Doris Meixel

Students "have never enjoyed more family-oriented, fun programs since Doris came on the scene" as PTA Programs VP. Talent shows and movie nights are some that are enjoyed by all. Her weekly help in the clinic make her a student favorite, too!

Princess Anne Middle - Joy Moynihan

Teachers at PAMS say that this volunteer's name says it all - she is a "joy" to have around. She volunteers her time to help her son's core teachers two days a week with copies and other tasks, and she assists with PTA fundraisers.

Salem Elementary - Lisa Berlinghof-Purcell

This volunteer is busy welcoming and honoring volunteers as VIE Coordinator. As a result, the school has a dedicated team of volunteers who help Lisa with events like Family Fitness Night and in classrooms assisting teachers. Salem thanks YOU, Lisa!

Providence Elementary - Desrine Yon

As an "exemplary, go-to volunteer," Desrine recruits even more volunteers to help! She assists with SOL testing, volunteer orientation, classroom tasks, and copies. Even when her son starts middle school, Desrine says she'll be a helping hand at Providence.

Salem High - Ginger Scherck

Ginger is a familiar face at Salem High because of her daily volunteer service. She helps coordinate volunteers, chairs the Project Grad committee, and organizes many events to support the SunDevils. One nominator writes, "She is priceless!"

Salem Middle - Lisa Ross

As Hospitality chairperson, this volunteer has brought "flair and imagination" to the school's events which bring smiles to attendees. Her added touches make each event special. She also helps with dances, book fairs, and snack carts during testing.

Tallwood High - Al Midgette

This volunteer helps many schools with the good deeds of the Noblemen, ant his work with Tallwood's new Noble Teens club is no exception. Al's efforts to help teens experience the value of community service and philanthropy make him a THS favorite!

Seatack Elementary - Teresa Jackson

This dedicated volunteer has worked at Seatack for enough years to see two consecutive groups of children complete their elementary years. She is a constant model of “stick- to-it-ness that is not often seen in our society.” Well done!

Technical and Career Education Center - Mike Lambiase

A recent TCE graduate, Mike is already giving back. The students "admire and respect him," and his "strong work ethic" positively influences them. This role model has devoted over 120 hours to helping current students do their best work.

Shelton Park Elementary - Earl Ludwick

Student of the Month events are made extra special by the efforts of this volunteer. Decorations, centerpieces, certificates, goodies, and photos are all arranged by Earl. He is a "creative and energetic" volunteer who Shelton Park is "proud to know!"

Thalia Elementary - Kathy Marshall

Kathy's volunteer efforts at three different schools have resulted in countless hours of service to students and staff. As a classroom tutor, PTA Board Member, and Room Parent, she is "an outstanding role model" for all at Thalia.

Strawbridge Elementary - Tonya Lumpkin

This PTA President has served in many leadership roles. "Tonya brings good humor and a willing spirit to any task she undertakes." Whether it is working with school partners, volunteers, students or staff, she's making a difference at Strawbridge!

Thoroughgood Elementary - Stephanie Adams

Increasing volunteerism by Stephanie "stands above the rest due to her high level of dedication and character." Her work with events like Multi-Cultural Week, the second grade play, and the Chinese New Year Feast, along with managing the Seagull Supply Cart, show her commitment.

Tallwood Elementary - Melissa Derwort

Whether she is working in the cafeteria, library, or at the front desk, Melissa "always helps to keep things running smoothly." She arrives early and stays late, helping children in any area needed. Tallwood appreciates her endless dedication!

Three Oaks Elementary - Vicki Lehner

When she's not recruiting volunteers, she is volunteering for PTA events and helping in the workroom. "Vicki has given selflessly of her time since TOES first opened its doors." Her hard work and dedication make her a very dependable volunteer.

Trantwood Elementary - Dana Moesta

Dana's leadership with the peer tutoring and foreign language programs, Science Lab, Hospitality Committee, and Brick Campaign makes her a key volunteer at Trantwood. The school "couldn't ask for a more helpful, dependable, or cheerful parent volunteer!"

Windsor Woods Elementary - Helen Graham

Nicknamed "Mamaw" at the school, Helen volunteers four days each week on any and all projects. Her baked goods and snacks are staff favorites, and they say she spoils them with her food and kindness!

Virginia Beach Central Academy - Christian Kalassay

As a Carrabba's restaurant manager involved in his community, Christian offers support and resources for Central Academy programs. His assistance with food for events and his willingness to lend a hand are very much appreciated by the school.

Woodstock Elementary - Becky Benedict

Volunteering at three schools does not keep Becky from being "one of the most actively involved parents" at Woodstock. Working with the GRT, helping with PTA events, and assisting in classrooms are some of the ways she's making a difference at Woodstock.
