Virgina Beach Central Academy At Virginia Beach Central Academy, Hugh Tierney is recognized as 2002 Volunteer of the Year. Hugh is a Junior Achievement volunteer, who taught Jane Dearborn's Occupational Information class about Personal Economics for eight weeks. Hugh held the attention of students by relating the economic concepts he taught to current events they were hearing about in the news and used Big Macs and Whoppers he brought in as object lessons in marketing and consumer appeal. His examples made the money management concepts students were learning stick.
