Bayside Middle Denise Schumacher is volunteer of the year at Bayside Middle School. Her most outstanding accomplishment was in managing the schools Reflection Contest, which she promoted so well that a record 128 entries were received. Denise made it possible for students to borrow cameras to create photography entries for the contest. When the PTA needed someone to head its membership drive, Denise was ready to step in and has also contacted every individual who has volunteered to assist the PTA. Denise also formed a school beautification group that picked up trash and weeded flowerbeds on weekends. She painted the fence and benches at the entrance to the school. Denise is a dependable seller of tickets at PTA events. She created all of the PTA's cards, posters, invitations and award certificates. At Bayside Middle they say that Denise lights up a room when she walks in. This year she has brightened the school with 1400 hours of volunteer service.
