The Student Portal is accessible to students and staff from outside and inside our network. Please review the directions below and proceed as shown based on your group (student/staff) and location (inside/outside the network).
Access from Home (or Other Locations Outside our Network)
Students - To access the student portal from home, students will be required to authenticate using their student identification number and password. At the login screen:
- Choose from the Drop down selection: ’I am a student’
- User Name: Enter your student ID number
- Password: Enter your password*
Staff - Instructional staff must have a network login and password to access the student portal from home. At the login screen:
- Choose from the Drop down selection: ‘I am a teacher/staff member’
- User Name: Enter your login name
- Password: Enter your network password*
Access from School (or Other Locations Inside our Network)
Students - To access the student portal from school, students will be required to authenticate using their student identification number and password. At the login screen:
- User Name: Enter vbstudents\YourStudentIDnumber
- Password: Enter your password*
Staff - Instructional staff must have a network login and password to access the student portal from school. At the login screen:
- User Name: Enter vbschools\YourLoginName
- Password: Enter your network password*
* Passwords are case sensitive and may contain upper and lower case letters.

- Students - If you have misplaced your student ID number or password, please contact your school’s CRS
- Staff - If you have misplaced your network login or password, please contact the Customer Support Center at 757.263.1111.
Browsers
The supported browser is Internet Explorer (IE) 6.0 or higher. All of the base functionality works fine with Firefox or Internet Explorer.
- The AOL, MSN, People PC, Netzero, and Safari browsers may not work. If you use one of these browsers, make your connection, then minimize and run IE or Firefox to connect.
- If you have a dial-up connection, use your Internet services provider to access the Internet, then minimize and run IE or Firefox to connect.
- Macintosh computers can connect to the system. We recommend using the Firefox browser for Macintosh. Some Microsoft Office integration with MOSS 2007 within the Student Portal may not work from a Macintosh.
- If you experience problems accessing https://schools.VBCPS.com from home:
- Ensure that your Internet connection is working. If you have problems with access to the Internet, call your Internet Service Provider.
- Ensure that the pop-up blocker on your computer is set up to allow access to the Intranet. Follow the directions provided in this document Access from Home Login Review and Internet Explorer Pop-Up Blocker Instructions.
If you can access the Internet and have the pop-up blocker set up correctly and still cannot access the Student Portal, contact your school CRS.
