Student Portal Access

Students have access to a collection of division-supported digital resources by logging in to the school divisionís Student Portal. These resources include, but are not limited to:

  • Online versions of approved textbooks (all grade levels)
  • Library resources such as Destiny library catalog
  • StudentVUE (middle/high schools)
  • School Intranet sites

Parents may also access Student Portal and available digital resources by using their childís login credentials for home access.

This webpage includes instructions on how to access Student Portal from home (or locations outside the VBCPS computer network system) and from school. Please note that when users want to access Student Portal from home/outside the VBCPS network, they first will be prompted to login to the network through www.vbcps.com.

Student Portal Access at Home (or Outside VBCPS Network)

To access Student Portal from locations outside the VBCPS network, students and school staff will be prompted to log in to the network through www.vbcps.com. Parents may access Student Portal by using their childís login credentials.

Student login for www.vbcps.com:

  • Username: Enter your student ID number
  • Password: Enter your password*
  • From dropdown menu on the left side of the login page, select: "I am a student"
  • Click the VBCPS.com Logon button.
  • Once your login credentials have been accepted, you will be prompted to review and accept the school divisionís Acceptable Use disclaimer before you can continue to the Student Portal page.

Staff login for www.vbcps.com:

  • Username: Enter your login name
  • Password: Enter your network password*
  • From login dropdown menu on the left side of the page, select: "I am a teacher/staff member"
  • Click the VBCPS.com Logon button.
  • Once your login credentials have been accepted, you will be prompted to review and accept the school divisionís Acceptable Use disclaimer before you can continue to the Student Portal page.

* Remember that passwords are case sensitive and may contain upper and lower case letters.

Student Portal Access at School (within VBCPS Network)

Students and staff who are logged in to a computer or device within the VBCPS Network (in schools and VBCPS buildings) will have access to Student Portal without needing to provide additional login credentials.

Student login at school:

  • User Name: Enter vbstudents\YourStudentIDnumber
  • Password: Enter your password*

Staff login at school:

  • User Name: Enter vbschools\YourLoginName
  • Password: Enter your network password*

* Remember that passwords are case sensitive and may contain upper and lower case letters.

Access Issues

Student Passwords or ID Numbers:

  • If you have forgotten your password, the Self-Service Password Reset option allows you to reset your forgotten password and allow you to unlock your account. Click here for instructions on how to register for the password reset option if you have not already done so at school.
  • If you have forgotten your password and have already registered with Self-Service Password Reset please follow the directions here to reset your password.
  • If you have misplaced your student ID number or password, please contact your schoolís Technology Support Technician (TST).

Staff Passwords:

  • If you have forgotten your password, the Self-Service Password Reset option allows you to reset your forgotten password and allow you to unlock your account. Click here for instructions on how to register for the password reset option if you have not already done so.
  • If you have forgotten your password and have already registered with Self-Service Password Reset please follow the directions here to reset your password.
  • If you have misplaced your network login or password, please contact the Customer Support Center at 757.263.1111 during the regular business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Access from Home:

  • Ensure that the pop-up blocker on your computer is set up to allow access to the VBCPS Intranet (www.vbcps.com). Follow the directions provided in this document Access from Home Login Review and Internet Explorer Pop-Up Blocker Instructions.
  • Ensure that your Internet connection is working. If you have problems with access to the Internet, call your Internet Service Provider.
  • If you can access the Internet and have the pop-up blocker set up correctly and still cannot access the Student Portal, contact your school's Technology Support Technician (TST).
