Are you the parents of a middle and/or high school student? Could your child benefit from the use of a laptop loaner provided by our school?
If your answer to that question is “yes,” VBCPS may be able to help you.
VBCPS is making laptops available for checkout for the entire school year for the students of families in participating schools that meet one of two eligibility criteria. These criteria are: 1) There are least four people for every computer in your household; or 2) Your student(s) receives free/reduced price meals. As you will note in the attached application, you do not have to identify which criteria makes your household eligible, only that you meet at least one of the requirements.
If you are interested in obtaining a laptop for your child, you must sign and return the enclosed Laptop Loaner Checkout Agreement Form to the school by Sept. 21, 2013. From there, we will notify the Department of Technology how many requests we have received. Please note, if the number of applications we receive exceeds the number of computers the Department of Technology gives us, then the laptops will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
The plan is to begin distribution of the computers on or after Oct. 4. We also ask you to review the enclosed program guidelines with your students. There are significant responsibilities that come with having the privilege of checking out a laptop for an extended period of time and violating those guidelines can result in the school revoking the privilege.
If you have any questions about this program, or if you need more information not included in the Checkout Agreement Form, feel free to call 757-263-1000, or call your school to find out if it is participating in this initiative.
*Please note, Brandon Middle School is not participating in this program
