Only parents or guardians of students enrolled in selected elementary schools and all middle and high schools have access to the SchoolNet Parent Portal. All parents of elementary students will have access during the 2009-2010 school year beginning on the rollout dates listed on this page.
Please read the following steps, prior to setting up your SchoolNet Parent Portal account:

  1. In order to set up an account to access the SchoolNet Parent Portal, your child/children must be enrolled in any middle or high school, or an elementary school that has access to the SchoolNet Parent Portal. You must have an e-mail account and you must know your child or children’s Perm Number.
    - Your child's Perm Number is a unique student identification number. This number is included on the student report card and the same number used by your child to access services in the school library and cafeteria.
    - If you do not have an e-mail account, here is a helpful list of free e-mail services.
  2. Upon completing and submitting the SchoolNet Parent Registration Form, your information will be verified by VBCPS staff within 2 business days.  If you do not receive an e-mail within 2 business days, please contact us.
  3. Once your information is verified, you will receive an e-mail providing you with a PIN number, directing you to visit your child's school to confirm your identity.  To confirm your identity you must bring your PIN number and a photo ID. You may visit your child’s school, or any middle or high school, during office hours Monday – Friday to verify your identity or any of these special dates and times PDF. If you have registered for multiple children, this process can be completed in a single visit to ANY middle or high school, or an elementary school that has access to the SchoolNet Parent Portal.
  4. If you are a parent/guardian presently living outside of the state, deployed by the U.S. military, or have a compelling reason you are unable to appear in person to verify your ID, an alternate process is available. The guidelines for this process are included in the Notarized Parent/Guardian Identity Verification Mail-In Form PDF Document.
  5. Your PIN number will be valid for only 90 days. If a parent does not visit a school and/or mail a Notarized Parent Identity Verification Form to confirm his or her identity 90 days after receipt of the e-mail, the PIN number issued via e-mail will become invalid. Should your PIN number become invalid, to gain access to the SchoolNet Parent Portal you will be required to re-register by following steps 1-4 in this section.
  6. After school staff confirm your identity, a second e-mail will be sent to you within 24 hours containing a Username and Password that will allow you to access your child or children's school information using the SchoolNet Parent Portal. If you do not receive an e-mail within 24 hours, please contact us.
  7. You are now ready to register.
