The Virginia Beach School Board will appoint an interim representative to the At-Large seat recently vacated by Todd C. Davidson. Dr. Davidson resigned from the School Board, effective July 31, 2012. The person appointed will serve until an At-Large School Board Member is elected on and qualified after the November 6, 2012 special election. To be eligible for appointment, a citizen must be a qualified voter residing in the City of Virginia Beach.
The School Board invites interested citizens to submit the application form that includes: reasons for interest in School Board service; summary of work experience and public/community service; educational background; past volunteer experience or employment with Virginia Beach City Public Schools or other school systems; evidence of residence and voter registration; and additional qualifications for the position. The application form is available in the Clerk’s Office or online 
. Applications must be received no later than 12:00 p.m. on August 16, 2012 in the office of Dianne Alexander, Clerk of the School Board, P.O. Box 6038, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23456-0038. Applications may also be submitted via e-mail to diannep.alexander@vbschools.com.
The School Board will hold a public hearing on August 21at 6 p.m. to receive comments regarding this appointment. The public hearing will be held at 2512 George Mason Drive, Building 6, Virginia Beach. Any citizen who desires to speak at this hearing or has questions about the appointment process, should contact the Clerk of the School Board at 757.263.1016. The School Board will make an appointment no later than September 14, 2012.
