6. Student, Employee and Public Awards and Recognitions
6A. Presidential Award for Mathematics and Science Teaching

The School Board is proud to recognize a teacher who is one of 213 recipients of the Presidential Award for Mathematics and Science Teaching. Please join me in welcoming: Princess Anne High School teacher Camilla Walck.

Established by Congress in 1983, this award is the highest recognition that a kindergarten through 12-grade mathematics or science teacher may receive. Honorees are selected by a panel of distinguished scientists, mathematicians, and educators following an initial selection process at the state level. Camilla is a National Board Certified Teacher, has taught science at Princess Anne High School for 21 years, including earth science, environmental science, biology, Middle Years Program (MYP) biology and International Baccalaureate (IB) biology. In addition to teaching college-level education and science courses and presenting at conferences, Walck is also a published author of journal articles and an IB biology review book.

As a winner of this Presidential honor, she received a $10,000 award from the National Science Foundation and was recognized at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. earlier this month.

Congratulations, Camilla Walck, a 2016 Presidential honoree!
