6. Student, Employee, and Public Awards and Recognitions6A. Outstanding Attendance – June 2008
The School Board is pleased to recognize the schools with the highest rates of student attendance for the month of June 2008. Representatives from these schools are invited to come forward as their school's name is announced.
Kingston Elementary School, with an attendance rate of 97.68% is the recipient of the elementary school attendance certificate for June. Accepting Kingston's attendance certificate is Principal Greg Furlich. Congratulations to students and staff at Kingston Elementary School.
Kemps Landing Magnet School, with an attendance rate of 99.11%, receives the middle school attendance certificate, as well as the most improved attendance certificate, for June. Accepting both certificates for Kemps Landing is Principal Randi Riesbeck. Congratulations to the students and staff at Kemps Landing Magnet School for their outstanding student attendance.
At the high school level, the attendance certificate for June 2008 goes to Green Run High School which reported a 98.01% student attendance rate. Accepting the school's certificate is Assistant Principal Heidi Mealy. Congratulations to Green Run High students and staff.
6B. Most Improved Attendance – June 2008
The School Board will now recognize the elementary and high schools which have the most improved attendance for the month of June 2008.
A review of attendance data shows that Cooke Elementary School had the most improved attendance for June with an improvement rate of 0.19%. Accepting Cooke's attendance certificate is Principal Barbara Sessoms. Congratulations to students and staff at Cooke Elementary School.
The most improved attendance certificate at the high school level goes to Open Campus which posted a 5.09 percent increase in student attendance for June 2008. Representing Open Campus is Interim Principal Josh Darden. Congratulations to the students and staff at Open Campus.
6C. Most Improved Attendance – 2007-2008 School Year
Now for the most improved overall attendance for the entire 2007-2008 school year.
The School Board would like to congratulate the students and staff of Kellam High school, which improved attendance by 1.03 percent over the previous year.
Accepting the attendance certificate on behalf of Kellam High School is Principal Bruce Biehl. Congratulations to the Knights for their improved student attendance during the 2007-2008 school year.
