6. Student, Employee, and Public Awards and Recognition

6A. Outstanding Attendance – October 2007
The School Board is pleased to recognize the schools with the highest rates of student attendance for the month of October 2007. Representatives from these schools are invited to come forward as their school's name is announced.

New Castle Elementary School, with an attendance rate of 98.04% is the recipient of the elementary school attendance flag for October. Accepting New Castle's attendance certificate is Principal Janet Duff and SCA President Elly R. Congratulations to students and staff at New Castle Elementary School!

Kemps Landing Magnet School, with an attendance rate of 98.93%, receives the attendance certificate for middle schools for October. Accepting the certificate for Kemps Landing Magnet School are Mr. Paul Baird, Orchestra Conductor, and Tia C, an 8th grader who is the 1st Chair for the Junior Regional Orchestra for the second consecutive year. Tia is also the Concert Mistress for Kemps Landing Magnet School and the Bay Youth Concert Orchestra. Congratulations to the students and staff at Kemps Landing Magnet School for their outstanding student attendance in October!

At the high school level, outstanding attendance for October 2007 goes to Princess Anne High School who reported a 96.60% student attendance rate. Accepting Princess Anne's certificate is Assistant Principal Angelita Isom.

6B. Most Improved Attendance – October 2007
The School Board will now recognize the school with the most improved attendance for the month of October, 2007.

A review of attendance data shows that Plaza Elementary School had the most improved attendance for October with an improvement rate of 0.24%. Accepting Plaza Elementary's attendance certificate is Assistant Principal Christopher Tsitera. Congratulations to students and staff at Plaza Elementary School!
