6. Student, Employee, and Public Awards and Recognition

6A. Teacher of Excellence Award

The School Board is pleased to recognize Nancy Moskway-Vadersen 2006 winner of the prestigious National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) Secondary Teacher of Excellence Award.

Ms. Moskway-Vadersen was selected for this award by the Virginia Association of Teachers of English (or VATE). Ms. Moskway-Vadersen, an English teacher and Mathematics and Science Academy advisor at Ocean Lakes High School, has been an active VATE officer and former VATE President, and is recognized by her peers an outstanding classroom teacher. In 2003, she was nominated by her colleagues in Virginia Beach for the honorable Foster B. Gresham Award from VATE, for which she was selected. The NCTE Secondary Section celebrates high school classroom teachers who have been recognized for their excellence locally, thus moving that person's recognition to a national level. Nancy will receive this honor at the Secondary Luncheon at the NCTE Convention in Nashville in November.

Please join me in congratulating Nancy Moskway-Vadersen for receiving the Teacher of Excellence Award.
