6. Student, Employee, and Public Awards and Recognition
6.A. 2006 Intel and Scholastic School of Distinction
The School Board is pleased to recognize staff from Linkhorn Park Elementary School as a 2006 Intel and Scholastic School of Distinction. Accepting the award on behalf of Linkhorn Park Elementary School is: Principal Linda Sidone, Assistant Principal Doug Knapp, Teacher Terri Wannamaker, Computer Resource Specialist Hiroko Burch, and Speech Pathologist Pat Tuggle.
Linkhorn Park Elementary School gained national recognition as one of 16 elementary and secondary schools in the United States to receive the 2006 Intel and Scholastic Schools of Distinction Awards. The awards program was sponsored by Intel Corporation and Scholastic to honor schools with outstanding programs that support educational development and encourage student success.
All of the award winners were selected based on the quality of the programs already implemented in their schools. These programs highlight science, technology and mathematics.
The Intel Foundation will award a $10,000 cash grant and other prizes, including curriculum materials and other educational resources, to representatives of the winning schools on October 5 at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C.
The following eight categories provided the framework for selection of the winning schools: academic achievement, literacy achievement, mathematics achievement, science achievement, technology excellence, leadership excellence, professional development, and collaboration and teamwork. Linkhorn Park Elementary was recognized for Science Achievement.
The Board is pleased to recognize the staff from Linkhorn Park Elementary School for their efforts. Congratulations!
