5. Student, Employee, and Public Awards and Recognitions
5A. Outstanding Attendance – February 2007
The School Board is pleased to recognize the schools with the highest rates of student attendance for the month of February 2007. Representatives from these schools are invited to come forward as their school's name is announced.
College Park Elementary School, with an attendance rate of 95.78 percent, is the recipient of the elementary school attendance certificate for February. Accepting College Park's attendance certificate is Assistant Principal Linda Reese and School Improvement Coordinator Laurel Swenson. Congratulations to students and staff at College Park Elementary School.
Kemps Landing Magnet School, with an attendance rate of 96.08 percent, receives the attendance certificate for middle schools for February. Accepting the certificate for Kemps Landing Magnet School is Principal Randi Riesbeck. Congratulations to the students and staff at Kemps Landing Magnet School for their outstanding student attendance in February.
At the high school level, the outstanding attendance certificate for February 2007 goes to Salem High School which reported a 94.23 percent student attendance rate. Representing Salem High School tonight is Principal Donald Robertson.

5B. Most Improved Attendance – February 2007
The School Board will now recognize the schools with the most improved attendance for the month of February 2007.
Kempsville Meadows Elementary School posted the greatest increase in attendance for February with an improvement rate of 0.61 percent. Accepting Kempsville Meadows Elementary School's attendance certificate is Principal Doug Daughtry, PTA Vice-President Amy Myers, SCA Advisor Sally Frohlich, and SCA President Tiffany P.
Congratulations to students and staff at Kempsville Meadows Elementary School.
At the middle school level, The Center for Effective Learning showed the greatest improvement in student attendance—up 0.93 percent in February. Accepting The Center for Effective Learning's attendance certificate is Assistant Principal Zeddie Gibbs. Congratulations to students and staff at The Center for Effective Learning.
