4.A. 2006 National Board Certified Teachers
The School Board is pleased to recognize the following educators for earning national board certification from the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS).

National Board Certification, a voluntary process established by NBPTS, is achieved through a rigorous performance-based assessment that takes nearly a year to complete. Through the assessment process, teachers document their subject matter knowledge; provide evidence that they know how to teach their subjects to students most effectively; and demonstrate their ability to manage and measure student learning. The dedication and hard work of these teachers is to be commended.

4.B. 2006 Virginia High School League Girls' Field Hockey State Champions
The School Board is pleased to recognize Cox High School as the 2006 VHSL State Girls' Field Hockey Champions. Here tonight to receive commendations of distinction are the members of this talented team:

The team is coached by State Coach of the Year Julie Swain and assisted by Catherine McCallum. Coach Swain will accept the plaque on behalf of the school.

The Cox High School field hockey team won their record-setting 14th state championship at Oakton High School in Northern Virginia on November 11. The team had an outstanding season finishing the year with a 23-0 record. Four team members, Kaitlyn H., Stefanie F., Danielle S. and Kiley A. received All-State Honors. Kaitlyn H. was also named the state player of the year. Please join me in congratulating the 2006 VHSL Girls' Field Hockey State Champions from Cox High School!

4.C. 2006 Virginia High School League Boys' Volleyball State Champions
The School Board is pleased to recognize Cox High School as the 2006 VHSL State Boys' Volleyball Champions. Here tonight to receive commendations of distinction are the members of this outstanding team:

On November 17 and 18 the Boys' Volleyball team of Cox High School won the 2006 VHSL state championship at the Siegel Center on the campus of Virginia Commonwealth University. This is the second state championship for the team, which finished the season with an impressive 24-2 record.

4.D. 2006 Virginia High School League Boys' Golf State Champions

The Cox High School golf team won its fourth state championship at the Bide-A-Wee Golf Course in Portsmouth on October 13. The team had an outstanding season, finishing the year with a 16-0 record, and shot a state record 584 in route to the championship. Please join me in congratulating the 2006 VHSL Boys' Golf State Champions from Cox High School
