Emma L. "Em" Davis was elected to the School Board in May 2002 and she was re-elected in May 2006. She retired in June 2002 from Virginia Beach City Public Schools, with 36 years of service as a teacher, assistant principal and a principal. She has served on the board of the Virginia Association for Education of the Gifted and the Virginia Association of Elementary School Principals. She is a past co-chairman of the Elementary Principals’ League and past president of the Virginia Beach Association of Elementary School Principals. Mrs. Davis is an active member of the community and has served as chairman of the Boardwalk Art Show for three years. She holds a master’s degree in elementary education from Old Dominion University and a bachelor’s degree in history and social sciences from Longwood College. She also is a graduate of the Leadership Hampton Roads program. Mrs. Davis has a son who is a graduate of Virginia Beach City Public Schools.
