Building Improvements

Windsor Oaks was originally completed in 1970. During the construction phase of the new school, it continued to house students until the new building was completed. After the students and staff moved into the new facility, the old building was torn down to make way for the ball fields and parking areas.

Windsor Oaks is a prototype plan used by the school division for 14 other elementary schools to include: Christopher Farms, Linkhorn Park, Seatack, New Castle, Bayside, Kempsville Meadows, Woodstock, Hermitage, Three Oaks, Brookwood, Windsor Woods, Arrowhead and Diamond Springs and Newtown elementary schools

Spaces within the building include

  • General classrooms
  • Administrative offices
  • Clinic
  • Guidance suite
  • Music room
  • Art room with access to the central courtyard
  • Media center and adjoining computer lab
  • Special education classrooms
  • Cafetorium with platform
  • Gymnasium
  • Faculty dining
  • Commons area with coved ceiling and indirect lighting
Site improvements include
  • Student/staff parking
  • Bus loop
  • Athletic fields
  • Play areas and landscaping
