Construction Highlights
Seatack Elementary is a prototype plan used by the school division for 13 other elementary schools to include: Christopher Farms, Linkhorn Park, Arrowhead, New Castle, Bayside, Kempsville Meadows, Woodstock, Hermitage, Three Oaks, Brookwood, Windsor Woods, Newtown and Elementary School 2007-2008.
This “community” school is organized as a square floor plan with two clustered classroom wings housing 34 general classroom and special education classrooms, teacher’s workrooms and various service facilities.
The classroom wings along with the media center, computer lab, gymnasium, cafetorium and commons are situated around an interior courtyard, which allows for natural day lighting into all major public areas.
Separate entry points for teacher/parent access, students (buses) and service functions are situated in order to maintain security and separation from vehicular traffic as well as to secure portions of the building that are not being utilized for after school or off-hour functions.
Media center with seating for 50: 10,000 volume capacity; and 8 computer stations.
Cafetorium seating 267 and platform.
Faculty workrooms with work spaces, resource rooms and restrooms.
Exterior courtyard for outdoor education functions.
Commons area for indoor gatherings.
