Construction Highlights
- Linkhorn Park Elementary is a prototype plan used by the school division for 13 other elementary schools to include: Christopher Farms, Arrowhead, Seatack, New Castle, Bayside, Kempsville Meadows, Woodstock, Hermitage, Three Oaks, Brookwood, Windsor Woods, Newtown and Elementary School 2007-2008.
- This “community” school is organized as a square floor plan with three clustered classroom wings housing 30 general classrooms, special education classrooms, teacher’s workrooms and various service facilities.
- Separate entry points for teacher/parent access, students (buses) and service functions have been situated in order to maintain security and separation from vehicular traffic as well as to secure portions of the building that are not being utilized for after school or off-hour functions.
- Media center with seating for 50: 10,000 volume capacity; and 8 computer stations.
- Cafetorium seating 270 and platform.
- Faculty workrooms with work spaces, resource rooms, and restrooms.
- Exterior Courtyard for outdoor education functions.
- Commons area for indoor gatherings.
- Technology features include a computer lab and head-end equipment room features.
