Homes or other structures that are designed and constructed with the intent of being energy efficient, water conserving, minimizing the impact on the environment, and protective of indoor air quality.
Of Special Note:
The new $11 million Hermitage Elementary is unique in the sense that the building is the first certified LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) elementary school in Virginia. LEED facilities are unique since recyclable materials and energy saving features are incorporated during the construction phase. Keeping this in mind, this project was a learning curve for the contractor in terms of ensuring the construction phase was completed properly and in compliance with LEED building requirements.
