Construction Highlights
- The original Bayside Elementary School, built in 1941 was one of the oldest elementary school in Virginia Beach.
- Since its construction, the original school had undergone five significant renovations.
- Bayside Elementary is a prototype plan used by the school division for 13 other elementary schools to include: Christopher Farms, Linkhorn Park, Seatack, New Castle, Arrowhead, Kempsville Meadows, Woodstock, Hermitage, Three Oaks, Brookwood, Windsor Woods, Newtown and Elementary School 2007-2008.
- The “community” school concept was organized as a square floor plan with three academic wings consisting of general classrooms, special education classrooms, various resource rooms and workrooms.
- In order to preserve some of the history of the school, the original stone “Bayside” sign was set in its original brick in the corridor that leads into the commons area of the new building.
