Virginia Beach City Public Schools in co-sponsorship with the Virginia Beach Department of Parks and Recreation gives notice of intent to submit an application for Title IV, Part B, 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program, under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) P.L. 107-110. The Grant Award Period is for July 1, 2009 to September 30, 2010.

The community learning center offers academic, artistic, and cultural enrichment opportunities to students and their families during non-school hours (before or after school) or periods when school is not in session. A community learning center assists students in meeting state and local academic achievement standards in core academic subjects, such as reading and mathematics, by providing students with opportunities for academic enrichment. The proposal focuses on a Tri-Campus After-School Program that will service students in grades K- 5 and their families.

The community is given notice of the intent to submit an application and that the application and any waiver request will be available for public review on the school division's Web site after submission of the application.
