VBCPS Students Slated for a

“Transition to the Future”

Virginia Beach City Public Schools’ middle and high school students are marking the date – Wednesday, March 12, 2008 – to attend the 13th Annual Career Connection: Transition to the Future sponsored by the school division. Approximately 100 career and community agency representatives will offer information about careers and occupations at the event which will be held from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Advanced Technology Center (ATC).

Career strands represented include business and marketing; fine arts; health and human services; and engineering and technology. In addition, such career fields as tourism and hospitality, the marine industry, landscape services, and financial services will also be represented. Students and their parents will have the opportunity to speak with representatives and ask questions about the careers of interest to them.

Representatives are prepared to speak on a variety of subjects, including career-specific topics such as career preparation, job requirements, advancement opportunities, salary ranges, and career trends. Transition representatives from state and community agencies as well as admissions directors from local career training schools will also be available to discuss education and career opportunities after high school as students explore options for continuing their education or entering the work world.

Career Connection is free and open to Virginia Beach City Public Schools students and their parents. Door prizes will be awarded.
