Hundreds of Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) students as well as students from several private and parochial schools are tuning their instruments and voices in preparation for three upcoming Grand Opening Showcases at the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts. Each event is slated for a Monday evening in November: November 5, 12, and 19. The Showcases begin at 5:30 p.m. and end at 7:30 p.m.

Each special reception will highlight elementary and secondary school student performance ensembles and will include continuous performances by school choruses, bands, and orchestras staged in three venues of the Sandler Center. Displays of student art will also be featured.

All VBCPS elementary and comprehensive secondary schools will participate. In addition, Visual and Performing Arts Academy students from Salem High School, students from the Governor’s School for the Performing Arts, and Young Musicians of Virginia will perform. Self-guided tours and light refreshments will be available. The Showcases are free and open to the public.
