No, it's not lions and tigers and bears at the upcoming Career Connection career and job fair sponsored by VBCPS. But it is representatives from such career fields and organizations as veterinary medicine, Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge, and the Natural Resources Conservation Service, so it will not be surprising to see turtles or snakes or lizards. In fact, more than 150 career and community agency representatives will offer information about their careers and services at the seventh annual Career Connection: Transition to the Future event which is slated for February 20th , from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at Landstown High School. Career strands represented include business and marketing; fine arts; health and human services; engineering and technology; and several public service organizations, including the military and police department. Students and their parents are invited to ask questions about the careers of interest to them. They will have the opportunity to speak with the representatives in order to make informed career decisions and/or transition connections to post-secondary opportunities. Representatives are prepared to speak on a variety of subjects, including career-specific topics such as career preparation, job requirements, advancement opportunities, salary ranges, and career trends. Transition representatives from state and community agencies as well as admissions directors from local career training schools will also be present to discuss post-graduate education and career opportunities. Career Connection is free and open to Virginia Beach City Public School students and their parents. Door prizes will be awarded.
