Virginia Beach Schools to Sponsor
5th Annual Real Estate Breakfast

For the fifth consecutive year, Virginia Beach City Public Schools is sponsoring a breakfast seminar and serving information about the school division that is specifically geared to area real estate agents and brokers. The breakfast is slated for Tuesday, February 5 at 8:15 a.m. and will be held at the Clarion Hotel, 4453 Bonney Road in Virginia Beach.

Dr. Timothy R. Jenney, superintendent of Virginia Beach City Public Schools, will preside over the event. A panel of school division administrators will provide information on "What's New" in Virginia Beach schools.

Mary Ann Burritt, director of the Office of Gifted Education and Academy Programs, will discuss a proposal to expand the number of academies. Eva Roupas, coordinator of distance learning, will talk about this technological teaching tool and what it offers Beach students. Dr. Patrick M. Konopnicki, director of the Office of Technical and Career Education, will give an assessment on the progress of the Advanced Technology Center, a facility born from a collaborative effort between the schools, Tidewater Community College and the City of Virginia Beach.

Donald Greer, Virginia Beach schools demographer, will give the latest updates on the proposed redistricting of certain schools. Dr. Sheila Magula, Associate Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, will also give a brief presentation on the district's Standards of Learning improvement plan.

Attendees will receive complimentary copies of the 2001-2002 School Guide, and other related information from the school division.
