VBTV Airs School Board Meetings The Virginia Beach School Board traditionally holds its regular meetings on the first and third Tuesday of each month in the Board Room of the School Administration Building located in the Municipal Center complex. This year, however, the Board has shifted meetings during the months of September, October, January, April, May, and June to the second and fourth Tuesdays. The changes were made for a variety of reasons ranging from addressing holidays to allowing adequate planning time between meetings. During November, the first regular meeting of the Board has been shifted from Tuesday to Wednesday, November 7, in recognition of state elections day. Unless otherwise advertised, the School Board will meet on the dates specified below. The calendar was approved at the July 3, 2001, meeting as part of the Board's organizational procedures. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the schedule of regular meetings for the 2001-2002 academic year is as follows:

Generally, a closed meeting, from which the public is excluded, begins at 4:00 p.m. The formal, open meeting begins at 6:00 p.m., at which time the public is given the opportunity to address the Board during the Hearing of Citizens and Delegations portion of the agenda.
